Btw, one guy on Alternatehistory.com wondered how Detroit would had been if he had elected Richard F. Austin in 1969 instead of Coleman A. Young in 1974? https://www.alternatehistory.com/for...t-1969.423248/

Edit: Also, one commenter on Variety mentionned the movie could had performed better if it had been launched in the Fall. Detroit Box Office Analysis: Why Kathryn Bigelow’s Film Underperformed | Variety
I agree with the Variety article. I thought it was odd having this type of film released in August instead of September.

Fall movies are overloaded with 'big, important, Oscar-bait dramas'. The distributors probably thought that Detroit would've been lost in the crowd if they waited until September.

Still, I think this movie would've played better if released in the spring. I wish Hollywood would realize that there are 9 other months in the year where moviegoers would enjoy going to the theatre to watch interesting, adult dramas and not have to wait until September to see any of them.

It was good, lots of people have political agendas instead of being able to appreciate films.

It's being so overly-hyped, but it looks good.

Great watching Darren Aronofsky's mother! trailer on the big screen. Javier Bardem as John Cassavetes? Michelle Pfeiffer - Ruth Gordon? Bring it on!

I just watched the movie. It’s very emotional but well acted. It’s on Hulu. For a bunch of 17-18 year old kids to endure that night and the outcome... is heart wrenching. I was born about 20 years later so these people could still be around. You just never know what someone is going/ has been through.
