WHY I STOPPED WATCHING WOODY ALLEN MOVIES, by Olivie Collete

https://www.rogerebert.com/far-flung...y-allen-movies

Definitely made me think. Where is the line? There is a certain amount to be said for separating art from artist. But there is also something to be said for no longer supporting monsters in their endeavors.

But where do we draw the line?

t.v.

And I don't have a smartphone hunch with my dumb flip cellular phone.

Did you stop watching Kirk Douglas movies as well? How about Hitchcock? Then there is Fatty Arbuckle, who it appears got sandbagged for stuff where his only crime was being around.

I'm going to come out and say it - a lot of the Woody Allen hate has little or nothing to do with his art or his personal life, but is a PC way of swiping at a religion. I wouldn't have gone out on that limb a little while ago, but suddenly the very same people around here who are morally outraged at a certain movie director are staunchly defending a certain Alabama senatorial candidate.

If you make a public pronouncement out of the blue of "I won't..." because of your morals, you'll pardon me while I toss my cookies over your grandstanding based upon trying to drive someone else into the dirt. If you want to make a positive effect on lives, donate to a shelter for the abused, or a camp for kids, like the rest of us.

I don't even know what religion that sick mofo is, and I volunteer at a homeless shelter.

Good try, thanks for playing.

It's a very tough line to draw, and different people are going to draw it in different places. I think the best you can do in these cases is to follow the dictates of your own conscience.
