Jordan Peele's X-Ray Vision
By Wesley Morris

It has been 10 months, and weíre still talking about this movie and its alarming presentation of white racism. ďGet OutĒ opened at the top of the box office at the end of February and has grossed many, many times the $4.5 million it cost to make. Racism is old, but Peele found a poetic new way of talking about it.

I didn't think GET OUT was one of the greatest horror movies ever made by a long shot. But it was definitely a REALLY good horror movie and one of the best movies released last year. I'm eager to see what Peele does next.

Iím in the minority here because I did not like this movie. All my friends loved it and talk about it constantly and are shocked that I donít like it. Like I said in another thread about it. Itís a poorly done rip off of the Skeleton Key. Not even close to being the best horror movie.

Just looked at the synopsis of "Skeleton Key" on Wikipedia, and I'd say it bears about as much relation to "Get Out" as "The Shape of Water" to "Jurassic Park."

I've never seen Skeleton Key, so I can't comment on that. But in the couple of interviews I've heard from Peele, he said his primary influences for this movie were George Romero and The Stepford Wives.

But anyone who has ever watched Key & Peele knows that Peele is obviously a huge sci-fi/horror nerd.

I just read the plot synopsis for Skeleton Key, and I see very little similarity.

But I can DEFINITELY see the Stepford Wives influence!

I also see very little connection. No more connection than with most horror films.

Wait. They're both horror movies and they both have black people. There you go. Rip off.

Well since all you did was read the synopsis, why donít you watch the movie to see why I think Jordan Peel ripped off his idea from it.
