Hey all, new here. Seems like a cool forum to be with a wide variety of topics. It seems here in the movies forum all sorts of film topics are abound. Thought this would be fun for any of the Horror fans here, seems there's some. I've been a lifelong fan for many years and grew up with most of the major series. Of the following Horror series with at least three or more movies, which is your single favorite entry in each? Just cut and paste the list and replace with your choices and feel free to add any other series I forgot.

---

Friday The 13th
Halloween
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Saw
Scream
Evil Dead
Phantasm
Alien
Predator
Hellraiser
Child's Play
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Final Destination
Insidious
The Conjuring
The Purge
Paranormal Activity

---

My choices:

Friday The 13th - The Final Chapter
Halloween - 1978 Original
A Nightmare On Elm Street - New Nightmare
Saw - Saw II
Scream - Original
Evil Dead - Evil Dead II
Phantasm - Phantasm II
Alien - Aliens
Predator - Predator 2
Hellraiser - Original
Child's Play - Original
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 2003 Remake
Final Destination - Original
Insidious - Chapter 3
The Conjuring - The Conjuring 2
The Purge - Anarchy
Paranormal Activity - Original

And some additionals:

Hannibal Lecter - The Silence Of The Lambs
Puppet Master - Puppet Master 4
Maniac Cop - Maniac Cop 2
Romero's Living Dead - Day Of The Dead (1985)
Return Of The Living Dead - Part II
Poltergeist - Poltergeist II
Jaws - Original
Cube - Original
Tremors - Original
Leprechaun - Original
Blade - Blade II
Wishmaster - Original
Warlock - Undecided between either of the first two
Amityville - Only seen the original, remake and It's About Time
Resident Evil - Seen the first two, need to see the rest to make fair judgment

Also should note the two Annabelle films are included with the two Conjuring films, so The Conjuring counts as a 3+ movie series.

I'm sure some of my choices are sure to be controversial like Predator 2 and Poltergeist II (both are bold, I know). Not to say I disliked the originals at all, just enjoyed the subsequent movie a little more. I bet me liking the TCM remake is bound to raise more than a few eyebrows.

Also think best segment of a Horror anthology (Creepshow, Tales From The Crypt, etc.) would be good, I think I'll add that later to this.

Loved HALLOWEEN. Still one of my favorite horror movies. HALLOWEEN 2 wasn't bad, though it was a big step down from the original. All subsequent sequels were varying quality slasher flicks; nothing more.

ALIEN is a classic. I love ALIENS too, but ALIENS is an action movie, whereas ALIEN really is a horror movie. There are no sequels as far as I'm concerned. Hicks and Ripley and Newt lived happily ever after.

PREDATOR is great. Not sure I'd call it a horror movie though. Science fiction? Yup. Action? Yup yup. A horror movie? Not sure. I wouldn't call it one, though I wouldn't argue too hard against anyone who did. I have only seen the first 15 minutes of the sequel before I gave up.

Also ...

PSYCHO. An undisputed classic to this day. That said, PSYCHO 2 actually ain't half bad. A thoroughly decent horror flick.

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. Another classic. I didn't hate HANNIBAL like some people did, but I didn't like it very much, and I've never seen HANNIBAL RISING. Two sequels that no one wanted. Hannibal Lecter is a classic case of Less is More. The more we learned about him, the less interesting he became.

THE EXORCIST. Again: classic. EXORCIST II is one of the worst movies ever made. But EXORCIST III? Pretty good! Not the classic of the original, no, but still a thoroughly decent horror flick.

JAWS. Is this a horror movie? I dunno. But it's definitely scary and one of my all-time favorite movies. JAWS 2 wasn't bad. Every sequel thereafter was horrible.

I think Aliens is still a Horror movie, albeit more of an Action-oriented one as opposed to the psychological, clastrophobic terror of the original. Both are effective in their own way. I think Predator is partially Horror as well, a genre hybrid in a way.

The first time watching the original Nightmare on Elm Street was the scariest movie to me as a child. All the other movies people are listing are scary, but more fantasy in the sense that they seem like actual movies. The fact that NOES actually made people afraid to go to sleep is psychologically a lot different and scarier. I remember being afraid to go sleep for a week after watching that movie as a kid, lol.

Absolute best horror movie ever was Romero's 1968 'Night of the Living Dead'. the 1978 'dawn of the dead', and 1985 'day of the dead' sequels were also fantastic. the rest of the 'dead' sequels, such as 'land of the dead' and remakes of the originals were not near as good as the first three movies.

That reminds me how I've yet to see the newer Dead movies. Still sad over George Romero's passing from last year, the man was such a legend in the Horror genre.
