How can one portrayal of an imaginary being that violates various laws of nature and physics possibly be 'more realistic' than another?

Vampires are made up.

By definition, it's not possible for one portrayal of such a completely make-believe thing as that to be 'more realistic' than another. More interesting (to you, or to me)? Sure. More aesthetically pleasing (again, from a subjective perspective)? Sure. More realistic? No. That's illogical.

Another thing The Lost Boys reminds me of is how Julia Roberts dumped Kiefer Sutherland a few days before they were scheduled to get married and ran off with his friend Jason Patric instead. Thatís pretty cold!

My complaint with THE LOST BOYS is not that the vampires weren't realistic. My complaint is that they weren't scary.

But I do think the human characters (the teenagers, the mom, the kids) were extremely unrealistic. Not like any kids and teens I ever knew. They were fantasy MTV teenagers.

I love this movie precisely because it's high camp. Period. If you're looking for great film-making like Stand By Me, you're looking in the wrong place with The Lost Boys.
