Unless it's a movie I'm really really invested in, I choose the back row so that if I receive a text I want to reply to, I don't disturb anyone behind me.
Just be aware that it can disturb people in your row. I had that problem recently ... someone sitting 5 or 6 seats away texted through the ENTIRE movie. It was quite annoying.

I sat front row once as a kid because the birthday boy wanted to and it was also super packed. It was awful.

Another reason I don't like it is because I like to have my feet up against something.

But I can see why some fanatics might like to have the screen fill their entire visual field.

If the screen fills my field of view, I feel like I'm constantly having to move my head left and right (or my eyes, which then get really tired) to see everything that's going on. Like a really fast tennis match. And it gives me a headache.

I need some "breathing room"
