Wife and I are huge Queen fans. Have a dvd concert of them that is really cool. Looking very forward to seeing the movie, but might wait for it to come out as a rental.

BTW, did I mention that we are Baby Boomers at 69/me and 70/her.

Early reactions is that the lead actor is fantastically amazing. But the movie itself is just so-so.

Default Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

I had waited for this movie about Queen and Freddie Mercury for several years and finally watched it the other day. My resume? Good. Pretty good.

As of today the rating is 8.4 out of 10:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1727824/

Pros:
1) Great music, astounding sound.
2) Rami Malek was not able to convey properly the charisma and over-the-top optimism Freddie Mercury had but still he played pretty well. Quite a proper choice for this role.

Cons:
1) I would prefer not to see some of the kissing scenes. It was an unrequested thing. The director and producers IMO should have spent this time for other topics.
2) Some anachronisms.

Even though most of their best songs were released before Live Aid they had some great songs in their later years. E.g., The Show Must Go On is a true masterpiece both musically and lyrically.

Sadly, the director is a pervert.

I'm not a huge Queen fan but I do like their music. But I'm going to wait for the DVD like I did when NWA's Straight Outta Compton.

I wasnt a big Queen fan before seeing this movie...but I am NOW.

I loved this movie, that performance at Live Aid 85 was INCREDIBLE, you can find the real video online, they blew the doors off the place!

I also think Freddys homosexuality had alot to do with people starting to accept this mainstream.

I just saw it, and what a disappointment. It was too jumpy, didn't build the story or the relationships up enough, didn't play the music enough.

For me Malek tried to capture Freddy, but just fell short. He wasn't nearly as dynamic.

Sadly I had to walk out a couple of minutes before the very end! If anyone would mind posting in spoilers if anything happened after the Live Aid concert I would appreciate it.
