We went today--$5 Tuesday at our local AMC
We thought some of it was well done but frankly (for me) for a horror movie to be truly successful it has to so closely seem normal that your interior connections of the outward manifestations of the evil/horror have to be there well before something really scary happens...
This movie was way over the top in announcing "hey--something scary coming up"
Spoiler
And I was asking myself early on "Where is the dog" "Where is the dog"...that sounds like a cheesy comment but you can't have a horror movie with a dog and then ignore the dog 80% of the time...
And face it--how could you have something like that happen to your son/daughter and NOT have the family in therapy. I mean the boy went to school right away--
Just beyond the pale to expect the audience to believe that is NORMAL behavior
I saw it yesterday, but didnt understand the ending until I googled it, now I understand what the movie was about. I think with this movie, many people may like it more, if they read the spoilers, and read the explanation, BEFORE seeing it the first time, If I had known what it about overall, it would have been more enjoyable watching it.

Yes and no, sometimes the plot can really explain some things and other times the plot will spoil the movie for you.

I watched it a second time yesterday and there is something i still dont get...
Spoiler
If the 2 kid were raised only to be vessels for the demon Paimon, and the boy is older than the girl, (knowing that paimon prefers a male host), why did they even put him in the girl to begin with? Why didnt they give the boys body to the demon before the girl was even born? And when the girl was killed in the car accident, why did her mom go crazy with grief for awhile, apparently these kids were conceived ONLY to be vessels for a demon.
Makes me think about the conspiracy theories about bloodlines and alien DNA of the world's ruling elite and all the Bohemian Grove and Lucifarian occultism of the Illuminati.

Spoiler
The kids were conceived for all the usual reasons, not simply to serve as vessels for a demon. Remember, Mom had no idea of what her mother was up to! She had no idea her mother was a Satanic priestess. She just thought her mom was crazy.
Grandma and Mom were estranged when the boy was born, so Grandma had no access to him when he was young. But Mom had partially reconciled with Grandma when the girl was born, so Grandma had access to the baby. I am guessing it was just easier to give the baby to the demon than to try to possess the older child initially (although that was clearly only a temporary solution).
I suspect Grandma was the "bride of Paimon" quite literally: her husband was possessed. When he died, Grandma tried to move the demon into her son, who committed suicide to escape possession. (Remember Mom talking at the grief session about her brother being schizophrenic and claiming that his mother was trying to put bad thoughts into his mind just before he committed suicide?) That left Grandson as the next obvious host, but she had to bide her time to get to him, so Granddaughter was used as a temporary host in the interim.

But...
Spoiler
I feel as though the mom did know what grandma was up to because she tried to have a miscarriage and then tried to set her son on fire.
The demon the film is revealed to be about, named Paimon, is a demon who was cast into hell along with Lucifer and other heretical angels. Paimon is considered to be one of Lucifer's most devote warriors. Paimon is often depicted as having a female appearance but is actual male, which is why, in the film, the demon is first inside the daughter Charlie, and then later is inside the son. It also states in ancient texts that when Paimon approaches, you can here a strange sound similar to the clicking noise that Charlie makes.
