It's a very well done movie. Lady Gaga is great, I think Bradley Cooper is always a great actor. Loved the Dave Chappell, Sam Elliot, Andrew Dice Clay characters. Music is great.

I had not seen any previous versions, I did not know much about the plot or ending. Ultimately, as well as it was done, I came away feeling that I really didn't enjoy the movie.

I didn't enjoy it per se ... I mean it's a pretty depressing flick. But it definitely moved me. And I enjoyed the various elements.

Lady Gaga's music has never really been my cup of tea, but I have to give her credit for being a wonderful musician, songwriter and business person from a relatively young age. That lady has some real talent.
Because it hasn't been done in what fifty years. It isn't like doing say Spider-Man and then ten years later the first Amazing Spider-Man which were virtually the same style of intro for Spider-Man.

Saw it this weekend and thought it was wonderful! Sad but wonderful.

Man, Bradley Cooper's voice is amazing in this. What a great surprise. But Lady Gaga was breathtaking. She has a voice that grabs you at your soul. When she was singing that Shallow song, I got so emotional and starting tearing up. I need that soundtrack!!!

Watched it in a Dolby Theater, amazing sound, like I was at all the concerts during the movie.

Really enjoyed this movie. Had a hiccup during the movie where the sound went out, but they fixed it and gave everyone free tickets for another movie.

That was exactly my thought with it. This was Oscarbait butt in the best way possible.

I saw A Star is Born this weekend. I was a teenager when the 1976 version came out and watched it multiple times. This new version is really good and has stuck in my head. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper both surprised me--she with her acting ability and he with his singing. I played the soundtrack on Amazon Echo last night and I can see myself annoying my husband by playing it repeatedly in the future.

Very, very fine piece of moviemaking.

If I were to make a minor - and it is very minor - complaint, it is that
Spoiler
the song that was supposed to show Gaga's character as a complete sellout ("Why did you do that?", IIRC) still actually kinda works.

The two main characters really play well off each other, the supporting actors do an outstanding job as well. Sure, it's Oscar bait - but it's well-made, non-gimmicky Oscar bait.
