The Exorcist - IMO, the scariest movie ever made.

The Omen

The Shining

Burnt Offerings

The Changeling

Audrey Rose

Wicker Man (the original, not the remake)

Salem's Lot
This is a great list and I'll add a few more:

The Other
https://rogerebert.com/reviews/the-other-1972

I remember watching this and being totally freaked out. Evil twin - what can go wrong?

Ghost Story - the story line and acting in this is really good. Very suspenseful.

Of course, all the Alien movies - every last one of them.

And there's Carrie - we can't forget about Stephen King's Carrie!
https://imdb.com/title/tt0074285/

Oh, one more: When A Stranger Calls
https://imdb.com/title/tt0080130/

I absolutely loved An American Werewolf in London, The Shining, Wicker Man (the original of course), The Omen, and Children of the Corn, even though several of those are pretty campy.

The Doll (??); with Karen Black - I think it was called The Doll?

I believe you're thinking of "Amelia," in which Karen Black's character was victimized by a Zuni doll. That was one part of a three-part TV movie-of-the-week (Trilogy of Terror) in which she starred.

Another vote for Halloween (1978) the original and most creepy, supenseful and scary of all the Halloween movies combined in my opinion.
