I know the movie was to be more about his son wanting out of the life and not wanting to spend the rest of his life in prison for his kids, but still, I feel like too much was missing.
The irony, Gotti died in prison as a nobody who made headlines yelling at his family through the prison phone. He spent 9.5 years in prison with much of that in solitary.
His grandkids on reality TV (growing up Gotti)....he really would have killed these kids!
I still feel that Travolta is one of our more talented actors. So many landmark roles have been played.
Yet the #1 leading actor role was possibly a duel between Hanks and Cruise until more recently. Cruise always gives it 100% but I don't consider him the most talented actor. The appeal of Hanks stems from something I can't quite put my finger on.
A lot of talent has stayed out of contention mostly because so few major roles have been played. Travolta seems like a semi-retired fellow who likes to get busy with a major movie every once in a while. Being in many movies that gross less than a million dollars? Interesting choices have been made. No name directors with small budgets probably don't enjoy high odds of success at all.
It is hard to stay on top in Hollywood....as in life.

the actor playing John Gotti Jr just seemed not to age past a certain point--like Dorian Gray--but if it was based on his book then maybe there was personal relationship to contend with
I read that one of the companies putting money into this dog was the subscription company MoviePass...which has money problems of its own...
To waste money/investors' money I assume in a movie of this toxicity might seem to put some Board members' in jeopardy for wasting company assets...
