Gone in 60 Seconds. The original from the 1970s is cheaply made and looks it but the chase scenes are great fun. The remake in the early 2000s with Nick Cage is rather forgettable but it is a movie with a lot of cool cars in it.

If you're a car guy, you MUST see Le Mans (1971) starring Steve McQueen.

A few more thoughts:

The original Gone in Sixty Seconds is a classic, so see it. The Nick Cage version is garbage.

Rush (2013) is good.

Bullitt is not a car movie. It has one excellent car chase scene -- that's all.

American Grafitti is a classic.

Cannonball Run is idiotic rubbish. I'd rather watch Stroker Ace.

The Italian Job (1969) is a classic -- must see it!

Don't know what your feelings are about NASCAR, but back around 1960 there was Thunder in Carolina, a film aimed mostly at drive-in theaters in the South. The late Buck Baker, Joe Weatherly and several other prominent stock car drivers of the day appeared in it; can't say how hard it would be to find a rental copy, however.

Days of Thunder(1990), based on the NASCAR circuit. Good racing movie.

Adam Carolla recently made a documentary about Paul Newman that is supposedly really good.

It's a George Barris modified 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III. Really ominous looking.

Does anybody remember "Red Line 7000", starring James Caan?

I saw it in the theater when I was a kid, and as much as I liked cars, all I remember was having been more impressed by the first feature, "The Long Ships", with Richard Widmark.
