Hi,

I don't have much time but I want to see/watch a good movie about cars or racing. May I ask you to suggest some? For the love of God, please, please, don't mention Fast and Furious, if you do that you will be reported and my enemy for my entire life, I hate Fast and Furious, the most irrealistic and ridiculous scenes, full of immortals and superhyper heroes able to do whatever. I am looking for more realistic, less superheroes who are able to fall from the moon and being intact, movies about cars. It doesn't matter if the film is old, I love them too, especially with muscle/american cars from 60s, 70s. I remember to watch a film on TV with a black car that was racing against a lamborghini or ferrari and was not driven by anyone, I was 8 and I loved it, It was probably a film from 80s but I'm sorry to forget anything about this movie.

That kind of sounds like The Car (1977).But it was not a lamborghini or ferrari.

Here are a few that you might like.

Two-Lane Blacktop (1971)
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (1974)
The Driver (1978)
Mad Max (1979)
Bullitt
Vanishing Point (1971)

No, I think it was The Wraith (1986), and in fact there were no lamborghinis or ferraris, I was only 7 or 8 and watched on TV only once. Can't believe is Charlie Sheen in this movie!.

Thank you for your suggestions, I also want to watch 60 seconds (1974).

Well, if you get in the mood for a gloriously bad movie about racing, there is always ...

It's Formula 1 rather than muscle cars, but "Grand Prix" is well worth checking out. Certainly some of the best camera work of any racing movie.

That's an impressive list JoeySeven, especially Bullitt with Steve McQueen, and Mad Max must accompany the Road Warrior & Thunderdome, the second one was the best. Definitely agree with Cannonball Run 1 & 2, American Graffiti.

Used Cars (an absolute must)

Christine (you can't polish a turd, or can you?)

Smokey & The Bandit 1,2 & 3

White Lightning

The Blues Brothers (gotta love the mall scene)

Duel

Maximum Overdrive

Cujo (featuring the crappyness of the Ford Pinto being attacked by a dog, yes I owned one, it was a station wagon)

If you like a nice display of old cars, you should also be watching certain TV series such as the original Hawaii Five-0, The Rockford Files, CHIPS, Knight Rider, and Cops.

Not a movie, but the best show I ever saw related to car racing was a made for tv program about how a guy had set up a stock car short track on a farm and the way the contest grew. IIRC, the one rule was that the cars in the race couldn't cost more than $400, which totally changed the flavor away from cutthroat competition to having fun. I wish I could think of the name of it.

Here is a list of car oriented films
