I know lots of good coming-of-age movies for boys (STAND BY ME probably is the best). But I'm wracking my brain to think of something comparable for girls.

And no, I do not mean the '80s "lose my virginity" sex comedies. I mean movies where the theme is the transition from childhood to adulthood.
