I think it was Hacksaw Ridge for me. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/hacksaw_ridge/

Mel Gibson has been such a great talent for such a long time. Interesting that he is now often known as the guy who had the drunken tirade one night.

I honestly can not remember. I'm not sure I've seen a movie produced since 2011~12 or so (got tired of wasting my money so I stopped watching)....

Hereditary. My goodness I wish I'd written that.

That movie was disappointing to me.

While I don't see a large sample set of newer movies, of the more recently made movies I have seen, I did find Ex Machina very well done.

A lot of movies do because they function in two primary areas for me.

First, there is the Saturday matinee effect where, traditionally, I leave the theater, I am blinking in the sunlight, and the movie has left me with a refresh notion about life.

Secondly, there is how a movie reacts with my lonely vampirelle life. That is, as a night worker, I am in a different "time zone" from friends and other dancers. This or that movie allows me in my isolation to embrace other worlds.

So the last movie? Sunday, Sharpe's Rifles. Before that? Wednesday, "Navigating the Heart". Before that? Tuesday, Scorpio. And then before that? Monday, "The Warrior and the Sorceress". Etc, etc, etc..

There have been lots of movies over the past few years I liked. A whole lot. But the last one that truly WOWED me?
