Yes, you do need to see the first two in the Unbreakable trilogy first, which this completes:

Unbreakable (2000)
Split (2016)

My theory is that Elijah Price wasn't insane in Unbreakable. That would mean that Bruce Willis really was...

You mean the whole movie was a fake out? Price wasn't really murdering people to prove his point and the whole movie was the result of an unreliable narrator? Man, I hope not. That would totally ruin one of my favorite movies for me.

Every murderer isn't insane. Wouldn't this fit better as a comic book narrative. The villain finding the hero. How do you explain all of Bruce Willis' exploits,
