It actually looks pretty funny. But, those short clips are likely the only good parts of the movie... I'll wait for a few reviews before I decide to watch it.

We saw the villain (Dr. Thaddeus Sivana) do nothing except stop a punch. He has his own power set. Stay tuned.

So, no, not all things DCU are going to be "grimdark" nor "silly." And this movie looks like it actually strikes a balance, as opposed to non-stop silly like that Ant-Rudd stuff.
Shazam!

As far as you know, I could have been agreeing with what you said about Shazam striking a balance and all that.

My 13yo son saw the trailer and said he wants to see it. Considering my love for Zachary Levi, I have no problems with that.

I liked the old Sid and Marty Kroft Shazam show. Isis was okay, also. This movie looks extremely goofy and it was hard to see a real plot there. But DC has been getting ridiculed for taking itself too seriously and its characters pale in comparison to what Marvel has going. But maybe they went too far on this?
They should do a remake of the original Batman show, a comedy.

A comedic Batman without Adam West?

They already did. 21 years ago. It sucked.
