So, when I was a kid living in Austin in the late 70s, part of an independent movie was filmed in my neighborhood in Austin. They needed local kids to do a scene on a playground. I was chosen to throw a football to a kid who was the focus of scene. Fuzzy memory recalls one of the guys saying the working title of the movie was "Death Mask," but I can't be sure about that.

Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about? I have no idea of the movie was ever actually released. I don't recall ever signing a release. Google searches have been fruitless. But if the movie was completed and released, I'd love to get a copy of it.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) comes to mind. The bad guy was 'Leatherface.

Or, The Whole Shootin' Match (1978)

Also, look here: wiki/Category:Films shot in Austin, Texas

There are so many independent artists and filmmakers in Austin. 99.9% of their created work never sees the light of day.

Today? Yes. Absolutely.

Not so much the case in the late 1970s.

Any chance it was Honeysuckle Rose? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080888/ I used to know two guys who had cameos in that movie. One of them even had a line. But I know that movie used A LOT of locals as extras during filming.

It was still a college town back then. Lots of or artsy projects going on.

The only other one I can think of was maybe "Piranha".
