Not a bad list though I missed many to be sure. Tried to stay with a cut off line around 55 years of age.

There isn't anyone on that list that will be missed once they are gone after a few years. The greats are already gone or are way to old to act.

LOL. Check the timeline of the above posts. After Cida made her post, your ORIGINAL POST was EDITED to include more women. LOL.

Check the time of her post, then the little note on the OP where it says "Edited by ColoGuy..." and the time.

BUSTED!!!

  5. Gary Oldman
  6. George Clooney
  7. Dame Judi Dench

My explanation of the timeline was curiously deleted. OK to attack but not to respond is interesting.

The original list was edited six times, it is a large list. Then I found the "inquisition".

Cologuy --

Good list, but you missed quite a few leading ladies like Judi Dench, Eileen Atkins, Maggie Smith, and Emma Thompson. (However, as you're a guy and these are all British actresses, I think, you're forgiven, lol.)

Oh, and just to add to the list: John Malkovich, Christopher Lloyd, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Derek Jacobi, and Kenneth Branagh. (Not that these are all GREAT actors, but they have provided plenty of entertainment over the years.)

Yeah, I admit it -- I like most British actors.

I'll miss Betty White because she seems to be a really nice person and because she's the last of the Golden Girls. And maybe Gary Oldman (though he's not on the list) because he is such a chameleon and just disappears into whatever role he plays. But the rest of them, nah.

Gary Oldman is both a great actor and present on the original list.

Hmmm, have to admit that I never heard of a couple of those bloody names.

Knew I was missing several in spite of six edits. Pierce Brosnan and Cristopher Lloyd both being extremely memorable names. John Malkovich certainly nailed his role in the Eastwood movie about taking down the President.

Yet I'll bet we are still missing at least a dozen notable names.

As for the ladies, I mostly had to stretch to remember names that my dates managed to drag me into seeing. Judi Dench being a notable exception. I certainly wouldn't demand that women list actors as their favorites. Last I checked we were still free to prefer the movie niche that we prefer.
