The original was a classic. How many decades ago?

I haven't liked many comedy sequels the last few years. More were not even watchable.

Ironically, the poorly reviewed Zoolander-2 seemed like they went 110% into trying to make something decent (for what it is). The effort was there. Unlike Joe Dirt-2, Horrible Bosses-2, Big Fat Greek Wedding -2 and this endless string of recent wasted poor excuses.

So. This brings us to a Coming to America sequel.

Good idea? Bad idea? I'll probably go see it. Maybe.

Just thought of an obvious plot line, but this isn't the political forum so I'll keep it to myself.

Would not watch.

Did John Landis swear he'd never work with Eddie Murphy again?

No Landis? No Murphy? No deal.

It's going to be Jonathan Levine - Kenya Barris written/directed.

Details are certainly under wraps: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6802400/

It may be well into 2019 before it drops, if that. Time to change your mind about the Landis thing. Maybe.

I wish they would not make it. The first one is great, and will be the only one in my opinion; this next one I will just deem it as "influenced" by the first one.

I wish they would leave it. I watched it on the 4th and it’s just a great movie the way it is, no sequel needed.

John Landis isn't involved? That and the fact that Eddie Murphy hasn't made a good movie in years doesn't give me much hope this will be anything but a disaster.

At least the first one was good. The first "Big Fat Greek Wedding" movie from back in the day that some people liked? I thought it was campy beyond reason and insulting to Greek immigrants with all the "she has a zit on her wedding day... OMG! everybody has to spit on it!!" type BS. Gross. And they had the nerve to do a sequel decades later?

What's next? Paul Hogan returns as Crocodile Dundee - 3 at the age of 78?

But I might consider seeing Coming to America -2 depending on how the previews look.

That would have to be Crocodile Dundee 4, since there already was a 3. But hey, if it looked good, I'd watch. The first two installments in that series were great. 3 was a big letdown.

Comedy sequels I might consider watching if they happened:

My Cousin Vinnie
Oh Brother Where Art Thou
Raising Arizona

But PLEASE no more Chevy Chase "Vacation" stuff. Plenty has been done.
