What's next, an Engelbert Humperdinck biopic? I sincerely believe a pic about a NWOBHM band would be far cooler than watching a dude pretend to be Elton John.
One of the best selling artists in the world who managed to maintain a successful 50+ year career despite drugs and a risky promiscuous lifestyle in the 70s and 80s?
Just because you're not a fan that doesn't mean they aren't worthy of a biopic. Personally, I think it would be pretty interesting. And I'm not even a big fan.

There are hundreds of artists with the same accolades with more impact on the music industry and society as a whole. Bob Marley for instance.

I am a fan of his music --- at least his '70s and '80s stuff. After that, he kinda lost me.
This may end up being a good movie. But if I were coming up with a list of musicians on which I'd like to see a good biopic, I can think of a long list of others I'd rather watch before Elton John. Just off the top of my head ...
Bob Marley
Jim Croce
Chuck Berry
Waylon Jennings
Blind Willie Johnson
And yes, even Ted Nugent --- although a good Nugent biopic probably should be a cartoon.
