So we found H-1 on AMC last night, finally got a chance to see it after 40 years! In 1978 I was just starting out, no time for such things.
H-1 seemed like an enjoyable, but low-budget John Carpenter film. By today's standards very tame. Jamie Lee Curtis looked great, so young! Donald Pleasence was one of my favorite actors, RIP.
Its a fun Halloween film if a bit dated..
I spotted one blooper, the film is set in Illinois but I spotted palm trees at the far end of one street.
Im assuming it was filmed in Pasadena or one of the older towns in LA County.
We'll see the new Halloween when it hits the satellite!

That's a famous not-really-blooper. Most of it was filmed in South Pasadena. Tommy's school was in Alhambra. Haddonfield High is South Pasadena HS. Other bits were filmed in Burbank and Hollywood.

To me, the most glaring "This isn't Illinois!" scene is when Dr. Loomis uses the phone booth. That was filmed near City of Industry.

In one of the scenes where Laurie and Annie are walking down the sidewalk after school, at one point you can see the top of a film maker's head peek over the bush. It's also around that same time in the movie where a bit of John Carpenter's cigarette smoke made it into the movie.

HALLOWEEN is a masterpiece, but it is a flawed masterpiece.

If you think she looked young, check out the picture of John Carpenter with her in 1978.
