I am not familiar with the Cassandra Cain version. However, I'm guessing the Cain version is not Gordon's daughter though, and by making her not Gordon's daughter, it kind of takes away, Gordon having a compelling subplot like that, and I might not like her as much therefore. But maybe
Cassandra Cain is not related to Gordon in any way. She is actually the daughter of one of Batman's fiercest enemies. She was Batgirl in the "old" universe at the same time Barbara Gordon was Oracle, a character I found far more interesting than the Barbara Gordon Batgirl.
Oh how was Oracle more interesting since they are both Barbara Gordon?
I always found Barbara-Batgirl to be a bit annoying. She always felt kinda "tacked on" to have a girl version of a popular character, but they never really gave her much in terms of being an interesting character. But after she was paralyzed and became Oracle, she became a lot more interesting. She was still a super heroine of sorts, but one who had her own inner obstacles to overcome.
Oh okay. Well when I thought of Batgirl, I wouldn't want to be portrayed as annoying or tacked on. But I wouldn't want her to be paralyzed either, cause that means she couldn't get in on the action along with Batman and the villains, directly.
So what if she wasn't portrayed as annoying or tacked on and given the more interesting personality of Oracle, but wasn't paralyzed and could still do the crime fighting?

Make it Huntress and I'm in.
