Talking Final answer

It was a tough choice even for me this thread starter! Finally, I realized that Steve did a lot more of my favorite movies!!

And, I loved his stand up (King Tut) the best!

I like Steve Martin more than Eddie Murphy, BUT, Trading Palces was a much better movie than The Jerk. I enjoy watching them both, even all these years later.

I agree. I didn't like the Jerk very much but they're both very talented. I will say that Steve Martin's later films have been better than Eddie Murphy's. Father of The Bride and cheaper by the dozen were way better than Norbit and Pluto Nash. I'm not even going to bother going to see the one that's previewing now.

Trading Places is a modern classic. Never gets old.

The Jerk? I've never understood why people liked that movie. Not funny at all. Painfully un-funny, in fact. And I really like Steve Martin!

Question Help Square?

Square Peg,

If you liked "The Jerk," could you please explain it to Mark? Much like American Pie by Don it has hidden meanings (right?). Or at least I think/thought so. But, "The Bug" has been wrong many times before!!!!

P.S. Hope you don't mind me putting you on the spot...PEG! GIGGLE!!

I liked the American Pie movies. Very raunchy, yes, but behind the raunchiness was a genuine sweetness. And they were very funny!
