Heard the book is really good. May see if my library carries it and read it before catching the film. The trailers look good for it. Will check out the film when released.

Amazing? Not remotely. It was pretty disappointing for Meirelles, but decent overall.

I also found it disapointing - it seemed like there was so much more that could be done with a story like that. It wasnt a terrible movie just wasnt all that great either. BTW, where the hell were they? The US? Europe?

It is based on a book by Jose Saramago and it follows the book very closely which any book adaption should if possible.
The movie is based in Europe as Jose Saramago is from and lives in Spain.
There is a sequel called Seeing in which they attempt to get down to the cause of the Blindness. It takes place three years later. Not sure if they will be making a film of that as well.

Actually the author Jose Saramago, is from Portugal, not Spain...but anyway.
I read the book in Spanish, it was frustrating because he uses no punctuation in his writing...agghhh, his style drives me nuts. Took me 3 months to finish the dang book.
I liked the movie, but maybe that was only because Gael Garcia Bernal was in it....*drool*

I just watched this movie. It's officially on my top 5 worst movies ever list. Awful doesn't even begin to describe it. It was like a train wreck: I couldn't help but finish watching it....
