Definately Requiem for a Dream for me. It's one of my all time favourites but it still gives me the creeps every time I see it. Anyone who does drugs after watching it is either insane or suicidal because it is the most powerful anti-drugs message I have ever seen. It should be mandatory viewing for all young teenagers.
Everyone I know says that, but I didn't feel that way at all. I just saw a lot of mediocrity -- watching these people I just hoped they all died, didn't care about any of them, and it bored me. It wasn't powerful, it wasn't interesting, and it wasn't intelligent. It was just another boring drug movie.
I would say the most disturbing movie I've ever seen was probably Crossroads with Britney Spears. It's between that and this horrible Christian film Time Changer. It was disturbing that anyone could be so stupid to me, honestly, it deeply affected my opinion of a lot of humanity.
Sounds like a very interesting movie. Its an "instant play" on Netflix if anyone is interested. I think I'll give it a watch this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

I wasn't too impressed with 'Requiem for a Dream' either-the soundtrack was the best part of the whole flick. With the exception of Ellen Burstyn's character, I just had no sympathy for any of the characters.
I found 'Trainspotting' to be a far more compelling and insightful film into the netherworld of heroin addiction.
Gotta admit that Requiem For a Dream is one of my top three films of all time. I just thought the writing was stellar, the acting top notch, the visuals stunning, and nicely paced. Ellen Burstyn really did a tremendous job. I was very surprised at Marlon Wayan's performance and also enjoyed Leto/Connelly too. Agree with the statement about a great soundtrack.....love it.
after reading this thread, I finally saw "Lilya 4-ever" through Netflix's Instant View.
holy sh**, it's been over 24 hours and I still feel totally depressed and miserable ! I'm still fighting back tears! excellent movie (the girl that played Lilya should get an Oscar or some European equivalent), but 100% pure misery and despair.
I would have to say hands down, The Exorcist, that movie was bone chilling nerve wrecking. My grampy saw it at the drive in when it came out and loved horror movies and said that it was the first time in his life that he was afraid to drive home. He was in his fifties. People were throwing up in the movie theatre that movie was bizzare. What was also very creepy about it is that some died on set making that movie in bizzare ways. The cast and crew had to shut filming down at different times because of the eerie things going on. They almost stopped making that film. The next creepy film would be the original Texas Chainsaw, then faces of death, I dont know why everyone keeps mentioning requim for a dream, I saw it and there was nothing creepy about it. It was just a good look at drug addiction. Audition would probably be my fourth pic and from then who knows. That new movie the strangers I have to say I was impressed with, probably would put it in my top ten...
