Did you see Uwe Boll films ? ( Rampage, Stoic, Heart of America, Blackwoods)
It's disturbing only because it is mega violent an at least one (Stoic) is based on actual facts.
I have a strong stomach for gore and violence so it's pretty hard for movies to disturb me. I watch trailers and read reviews and tend to avoid movies that might mess with my emotional equilibrium (Sophie's Choice comes to mind).
But I was profoundly disturbed - and moved - by The Stoning of Soraya M.
It wasn't until I saw this movie that I grasped - just barely - the horror and brutality of the act of stoning.
Brilliant film.
On the flip side, a movie that disturbed me in a not-so-good way was What Dreams May Come. It was a huge and unnecessary slap-in-the-face especially to persons who have lost a loved one to suicide. It's one of only a handful of movies I was tempted to walk out on, and in hindsight, I wish I had. Besides the 'disturbing' factor, it was a ****-poor movie.
