Default Name It: African film about working in diamond mines

The story is about a man who moves from one African country to another on a work visa so he can work in a diamond mine. He carries a little girl's white dress in his suitcase, along with a tea set. The mine work is dirty and brutal, and at one point he saves another miner after a mine collapse. He befriends a woman there and in the end helps her get out. A big diamond is found, and the big fat boss celebrates and gets drunk - a short time later some boys find him dead laying out in the desert.

It's a French language film with great cinematography. Fairly recent looking, last decade or so.

What is it?? And no, it's not Blood Diamond!
