Top Five Comedies of all time
Ok, I had to think pretty hard about this one but if I were to choose my top five comedies of all time, my list would go like this:
1. What about Bob
2. Theres something about Mary
3. Meet the Parents
4. Wedding Crashers
5. Happy Gilmore and the Cable guy are even for fifth
Im sure there are funnier ones out there that I am not thinking about. Maybe your list will remind me of them...

Very interesting thread. I will be curious to see how people respond.
I have a hard time narrowing it to the top 5 comedies, so I am going to go for double with a top 10 list (in no particular order).
1. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
2. Airplane
3. Monty Python and The Holy Grail
4. Ferris Beuller's Day Off
5. A Fish Called Wanda
6. Some Like It Hot
7. Arsenic & Old Lace
8. The Mouse That Roared
9. High Anxiety
10. The Pink Panther
Honorable mentions to the top 10:
1. Muriel's Wedding
2. Murder By Death
I have picked several classic films, since I believe that they truly stand out in my mind as being timeless. I do enjoy many modern comedies as well, but to rank in the top, from my perspective, they need to appeal across generations, since several of the movies listed above were out long before I was born. I still enjoy them today, and can watch them again and again.

1. 40 Year Old Virgin
2. Airplane
3. Southpark - Bigger, Longer and Uncut
4. Austin Powers Movies
5. Im Gonna Git You Sucka
I have to really think about any other comedy. Some that come to mind that were funny but not necessarily in top five are: "Friday", "Superbad", "Vacation", "Something About Mary", "Ghostbusters", "Back To School", "Kings Of Comedy", "Waterboy".

LOVED What About Bob!
Hard to narrow down to only 5...
What's Up, Doc?
Duck Soup
Raising Arizona
The Music Box
Bedazzled
anything to do with Buster Keaton, Mae West or WC Fields...also partial to Carole Lombard comedies.

The Jerk
Christmas Vacation
Talladega Nights
The Toy --with Richard Pryor
Christmas Story
Nine Months --with Hugh Grant
Mickey Blue Eyes --with Hugh Grant
Anchorman --Will Ferrell
40 Year Old Virgin
There are so many that I am leaving out and just can't think of right now, but these are some of the movies that we (my family) recites lines to all year long.

I like my comedy more intellectual and less physical. . . top picks:
Six Rooms, River View -- not a movie, a play, staring Carol Burnett and Alan Alda
The Four Seasons -- movie, also Burnett and Alda
Wonder Boys -- Michael Douglas
