Default Netflix watch instantly feature, with error message

Hi all,

I am a new user of Netflix.

All has been going smoothly, I chose some movies, two arrived here pronto, and I also watched a movie instantly last night. The kids watched one this morning, all with no difficulties.

Now I try to watch the Constant Gardener, and find "error code 8101 101"

So I go into the help area and it says for error codes call customer service.

I call customer service and have been told the wait is approximately 26 minutes!!!!!!! (I am on hold now for almost 5 minutes).

My question is, has this ever happened to someone else? What do they do about it? Don't necessarily want to wait 26 minutes, I think I'm going to google this next and see if I find anything out.

Everything was going good till now, but I just want to make sure this service is right for me before the free trial is up. (though it's cheap enough, and I love the watch instantly business, very convenient)

My other question is, do you find that they don't have all the new/popular movies? I don't know if I have just not been in all the different genres but it seems like for every newer one there are two older ones.

Any thoughts??????

You've got to be kidding me.

I just googled it really quick and the quickest and easiest advice I found is to add an "s" after the http in the web address, so "https". Son of a gun, I never would have thought this would work but the movie has loaded, and I'll see how it goes from here.................

p.s. I am still listening to the elevator music after 14 min 32 seconds, lol!

maybe I'll turn the volume down on the speaker phone and remain on hold in

oops, ringing got to go!

Ugh!

hung up because it was working.

but then it stopped w/ a different error.

tried to reload, told me the movie wasn't available.

Browsed for another movie, couldn't settle on one.

Trying to reload CG.

Nope, didn't work, "not available at this time" call cust. serv.

Damn! I never should have hung up.

Now I am here talking to myself like a nutcase!!!!!

I've never had any problems with instant viewing. I really enjoy it. It's great for when my grandsons (3 years old) come over & I can just pick a kids movie and start it for them. I love watching the really old tv series. I just started watching Adam-12. I'm such a dork!!!!

How does the instant movie feature work. Do you have to have special equipment. What is the cost?? Does it mean you can watch any movie you want at anytime?? Why would you need to get movies in the mail then? Thanks a bunch!

Don't know why you got the error message. We watch the instant movie via the XBox and have had no problems at all. Most of the instant viewing movies and videos are a few years old or older in all the genres. If they showed all the new releases, who would actually rent anymore? I think the feature is great, especially if you want to marathon an old series.

Well I never did get to watch Constant Gardener last night. It kept giving me various error messages until it just said it wasn't available. Maybe too many people were watching it?

Anyhow, I was able to watch the Grocer's Son, and that worked pretty well till I got a message that there was a problem w/my computer (which I got w/the other movie), but then the movie came back on. Got the idea that the computer didn't load the movie fast enough, so it seemed to pause the movie till the computer got caught up.

After that it played perfectly w/no problems. I'm going to try the Constant Gardener again tonight, and see what happens.

The kids loved the instant movies. It's great just to have more selection than what we have in the house, which is mostly Disney movies.

I am sure there are requirements for your computer's speed but I don't know what they are. The cost is bundled into the Netflix membership, I think you have to have the 2 dvd rental a month membership to get the free instant viewing (It could be the 1 rental a month plan too but I don't remember). Anyway, you cannot get all the movies on instant viewing, but there are some available, a lot of older ones and classics etc..... It is really worthwhile. If it becomes not worth it, I'll just downgrade the membership.

Anyway, the dvd's came fast, but if your new w/Netflix or deciding to try it, don't rip the envelope up when it comes in the mail, I tore it open before I realized the inner portion was the return mailer!!
