Crash was overwhelmingly underwhelming. That concept had already been done to death by that time, and done most interestingly in City of Hope. How did it manage to win over Munich or Good Night and Good Luck? *shakes head*

Hated hated hated Terms of Endearment. I still hate it. I hated all the characters. I hate that Hollywood basically remade it while it was ruining a perfectly good stage play in "Steel Magnolias."

Watching Ordinary People was like watching paint dry.

I also don't see anything special about Silence of the Lambs, but that appears to be just me.

Oh, yeah, and I never did get why Rebecca won in 1940. Great movie, but better than The Philadelphia Story or The Grapes of Wrath? Seriously?

The Philadelphia Story is MUCH better than Rebecca. It's one of my favorite movies. But it seems not much has changed - Rebecca is more dramatic, therefore more worthy.

Titanic ( L.A Confidential was vastly superior)

Shakespeare in love ( I would rather have my eyeballs tattoed than watch Gwyneth Paltrow again "La Vitta E Bella should have won )

Around the world in 80 days

The English Patient ( second most boring film I have ever seen , the book is just as bad)

Oliver ( "The Lion in Winter" should have won)

The Sound of Music ( "Dr Zhivago" was the best candidate)

Amadeus ( "The Killing Fields was more deserving IMO)

Braveheart ( preferred "Il Postino" )

Gladiator ( "Erin Brokovich")

Chicago ( "The Pianist")

Lord of the Rings- hated that film with a passion

Crash ( "Good-night and Good Luck" should have won)

Slumdog Millionaire ( "The Reader")

Well, I tried to rep ya...

'The Killing Fields' was amazing-the book it was based off, 'A Cambodian Odyssey' was even more graphic and horrifying. It's written by Haing Ngor, the man who played Dith Pran in the film. He is a real survivor of Pol Pot's killing fields.

I loved Chicago but agree that the Pianist shouldv'e won.

I have a hard time watching anything with Gwyneth Paltrow in it.

I was never a fan of Lord of the Rings myself-hated the book when I had to read it for Honors English in high school and hated the film when hubby wanted to see to go see it!

Everyone who doesn't like Dustin Hoffman should never watch a movie again... :s

I don't know how someone can don't like an actor who is able to play everything perfectlly!

De Niro, Pacino, Stallone, Pesci, Nicholson, Brando and cie are also greath actors who are playing perfectlly there roles... but all those actors have some movie in their filmography in witch they don't do a greath performance... Hoffman is the only actor who I know who did just greath performances!!!

My favourite actor is Sylvester Stallone but my second is Hoffman and really close!!!

.... No way man!!! Titanic is BY FAR better!!! Titanic was the best movie of 1997, and one of the 10 best movies ever made, and totally deserved the Oscar of the best Picture!!!

I don't understand why everyone think that it was a mistake to give this Oscar to Titanic... L.A Confidential is a good movie but not more...

But the worst, is when I read that a lot of people think that Good Will Hunting should have won... I totally disagree with this!!! This Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's **** is ridiculous!!! This movie is too offensive, and TOO over-rated!!! And don't get me wrong on this, I really like Matt Damon (as I HATE Ben Affleck), I think it's a greath actor... But Good Will Hunting wasn't the best way to start his carrer because the movie has a really coarse language... Matt Damon and Affleck won the Screenplay Oscar for this ****... That's A LOT enough!!!

So...do you have a problem with Good Will Hunting because of the 'coarse language'? Pretty common and accurate portrayal to an area like South Boston.

No, the coarse language don't disturbe me at all... But I don't know there is some movies that I cannot understand why they are TOO coarsed!!! Good Will Hunting is a good example of a movie that I cannot understand this... But for me the worst movie that should never have won the Oscar of the best Picture because the sceenplay is horrible (F*** ans S*** every two words), it's The Departed!!!

A LOVE those movies with a really coarse language: Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Death Proof, From Dusk Till Dawn, other Scorsese's movies as Casino, Raging Bull, Goddfellas and cie., Reservoir Dogs, and a lot of others!!

So "Clockwork Orange" won an Oscar? How awful if that's true. My vote would go to "Tom Jones."
