Default Character Actors And Co-Stars

A thread to give credit to the other actors, not the legends or the household names, but the faces that most of us know even if the names escape us.

Stephen Tobolowsky and Nancy Lenehan are two of my favourites, but I don't think they have ever played against each other.

toosie beat me to it, my immediate thought when I saw the thread was, "M. Emmett Walsh". I've always enjoyed his work. It was pretty sad when his son died, way too early and a rising "mid level" star in his own right.

I know #'s 1, 2, and 5 by name, and I'll google the other two, but just for future reference, let's provide a link for a photo, film clip, something so that we'll either be able to place the actor or we'll learn something.

How 'bout Jack Warden? The earliest movie I can recall him in is, "From Here To Eternity," where he played one of the few sergeants that does not have it in for Private Robert E. Lee Pruitt (Montgomery Clift)... But he was great in The Verdict (Newman's guardian angel) and as the businessman in Shampoo from which Warren Beatty is trying to get financing for his salon.

YouTube - Shampoo02 - George (Warren Beatty), Lester (Jack Warden) and Jackie (Julie Christie).

Charles Durning put out quite a few splendid performances, I especially liked him as the detective in Dog Day Afternoon.

Gene Hackman is a borderline lead actor and supporting actor, he does both equally well.

Paul Giamatti is typically cast in a supporting or character role and is one of my favorites.

Danny Aiello does great as a support/character role.
