Which movies do you think have the best soundtracks? I never used to understand the appeal of soundtracks. Now it's practically all I buy.

(Sorry if this has come up before.)

The soundtracks to Wes Anderson's movies (The Darjeeling Limited, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums) are all very good.

The Big Chill
The Last of the Mohicans
Dirty Dancing
O Brother Where Art Thou?
Saturday Night Fever
American Graffiti

Not exactly new movies but great soundtracks, it all depends on your taste in music.

Other favorites of mine have already been named (Mohicans, Dazed, O Brother) so I'll just name:

Local Hero (scored by Mark Knopfler).
