I just looked at admission price at a local theater and was stunned that the price of one adult ticket is $7.50!! Holy moly! I think the last time I went to a movie theater to see a movie was about 6 years ago and I paid $4.00 for a matinee.

Just curious, how much in your area?

I'm in Charlotte, NC, and "regular" adult ticket prices seem to be in the $9-$10 range.

At the theatre near my house -- literally practically across the street, so it's usually the one I go to -- they charge $5 for ALL shows Monday through Thursday (including evenings) and $5 for shows Friday through Sunday BEFORE 4:00 p.m. (After 4:00 Fri-Sun, the price jumps to $10 for adults.)

It's the CONCESSION prices that are crazy. A medium popcorn is $5.75.

Wow - and to think you can buy most movies for less than the cost of one ticket - ya just gotta wait about a year!

$10 in suburban Philadelphia. I've become a big Netflix and Redbox user myself. I hate not going to the movies, but it's gotten entirely too expensive.

Weekday matinees are $5.50 but on Monday the first one is $5.00. Since a bag of popcorn is $5.75 we skip that but will often eat lunch at a restaurant either before or after.

$7.50 is high, but around here, a ticket is $10 a pop. I live in Stamford--just under an hour outside NYC.
