Land of the Lost....Will Ferrell?
Being of the generation that was glued to the tube at 0900 every Saturday for 3 years with this old show, I have to say I'm kinda disapointed that they are bringing it back as a comedy. I'll go see it, but I'm expecting that maybe they are going for the effect of how silly the old show might look to us now that we are all growed up. My 13 year old and I watched the sci fi marathon of the original this last weekend and he actually said he thinks it's pretty cool for such an old show with cheesy special effects...he said it stuck him as just being ...fun . I'll reserve judgment of the big screen version till I see it...but I still wish they had made it with an adventure tone instead of as a goofy slapstick. Any one else have any thoughts? LMAO It was sure a stroll down memory lane watching all the old ones again....

There is very little about Will Ferrell I like so I don't hold a lot of hope that this will be any good.

The trailer brought back some fond childhood memories. If this movie makes fun of some of the absurdities and brings some comedic "realism" to their plight, I'm all for it. I loved Will Ferrell on SNL. I loathe all of his movies. I kinda want to see it, but I'll wait for the reviews.

It's about a white water rafting trip that sends people down a waterfall and into the land of forgotten dinosaurs, sleestacks, weather pylons, and so forth -- how can it not be a comedy?

Actually, if you listen to some of the dialogue from the original, it could be an adventure real easy. There is a lot of paralells to the Stargate series in the premise behind the show. Interdimensional travel, alien tech, etc. I guess I'm being a bit of a purist, but, I have a lot of fond childhood memories of that old show. Many an hour spent playing out in the desert hoping to find a door into a lost world full of adventure .Kinda silly in a way, I know, but thats just me.
