I've seen many of Woody Allen's films. Lots of comedy, drama, a few dark films. This one is bright, outgoing, and hilarious. My favorite.

"David Brent: Life on the Road (2016)"

Could have been great as a Christmas TV special, but far too long for a full-length film. And feels even more rudderless and padded-out without the familiar supporting cast from "The Office"

The absence of Steve Merchent's writing is apparent!

2/5

"The Binding". Married priest (they avoid the denomination ID) starts to have visions of Abraham and Isiah. Classier than most of this genre and the ending is your call. 7/10

Enemy (2013). Interesting thriller, that I can kind of identify with. Director Denis Villeneuve is on a roll with Prisoners and Sicario, but Enemy isn't really as good as those two.

Fathers & Daughters.

Perhaps, as with all things emotional, it's subjective, but our bedroom was a pool after DH and I watched it, and we bought the song (same title as the movie, sung by Michael Bolton) and have been listening to it on loop mode for a couple of days.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH88VMXInrI

My husband sent the song with the lyrics to our youngest daughter, who hadn't spoken to us in eight years. She texted him right back with, "I love you too, Daddy. I miss you." And it went on from there. Haven't seen as many tears in this house since we lost (buried) a child. Finding one again is... emotionally overwhelming.

Did I mention that we love this movie?

Blessings,

Mahrie.
