Lars Von Trier's Melancholia. I thought the first part was very good, despite constantly reminding me of another Danish movie, Festen, so much... And the second part was visually arresting and just beautiful.

Agreed, TRosa. I was looking forward to this movie, but skipped through it in 10-min total. Bored out of my bleedin' mind.

Source Code. Whee, this was exciting, sad, funny at times and I'm happy for that ending or I would have been depressed having watched it all the way through as well. That's a for this one.
Thanks for this. I'm recovering from surgery so need a lot of DVD suggestions for a few weeks. Don't know how I missed this one. Love Jake, it came out in 2011 but it must not have remained in the theatres for long, as I don't recall it at all. Just added to my Netflix queue. Keep the reviews coming... your & Ans' posts keep my queue filled!

Larger cities have theatres that shows mostly/all independent films....otherwise, renting or watching online is the alternative. I have seen some awesome unknown/independent films on hulu.com and free as well!
Yes, we all said as much & agree. We were talking volume.

I'd love to have 1/2-dozen movies to choose from in a weekend. I was overjoyed the one weekend we found 2... too bad we decided to wait a few days to see one of them... it was gone from the theatres when we searched for it again.

We can hunt to find good choices online or in out-of-the-way indie theatres, if we're lucky enough to have one within driving distance. My never-will-happen fantasy is to see indie films open up inside the nation's Starbucks. I'd faint from sheer joy.

Anonymous - boy, do I wish I'd gone to Margin Call instead! I think it would've been so much less depressing.
