Actually I could not find anything decent on netflix (I was looking for the Warriors), and I remembered Fame being really exciting in 1979. I think my tastes have changed. It was not painful, but I found it a bit slow and somewhat inane.

Haha. I had the same realization with Animal House with John Belushi, ColdJ. I recall uproariously laughing in the theatre as a teen, as was the entire theatre, filled with other teens. In my 30's, when I attempted to watch it again to recapture that sense of fun, wow... I didn't crack a smile, didn't last through 15-min of fast forwarding & couldn't believe I once found all that slapstick nonsense fun. OTOH, glad to know I grew up, albeit a bit since a teen!
I just saw "Mulberry Street" which was recommended in another thread. That movie is not scary, it's ridiculously stupid. Boooo to whoever recommended it. Incidentally, what is going on w/this movies sub-forum, the layout is strange.
On TCM today I watched a favorite old movie titled Five Came Back. It was made in 1939. Lucille Ball has a part it but there is no comedy in this movie.
Right after that was Back from Eternity which is a remake of the above mentioned movie. It was made in 1952, I think. Both are good movies.
I like old movies. In particular I like the old Charlie Chan movies.
It sure is nice to be retired.
