I recently saw "New In Town" with Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick, Jr. It was okay but certainly not worth seeing twice.

I watched a movie called The War (1994) last night. I never heard of the movie until I saw it. It's not a "war" movie in the traditional sense. Its about a damaged Viet Nam vet who comes back to his poor family in a small town in the South, struggles to keep the family afloat while instilling values in his son. The kids and some others are fighting with a family of bullying neighborhood kids. The movie stars Kevin Costner and very young Elijah Wood. Mare Winningham is the wife. I thought they did a terrific job.

The thing that caught my eye while watching it is 3 actors from the TV show American Gothic: Lucas Black and Christopher Fennell who played the two best friends in American Gothic and also had a small friends role in the first X-Files movie. In The War, they are brothers in the bully family of kids. Also from American Gothic, Nick Searcy, who was Sheriff Buck's deputy, Ben Healey. I'd like to see this movie again. I really liked it.
