Story of the capture and escape of Dieter Dengler, a German born American pilot in Vietnam.
The man is a legend, 'tough as nails' doesn't do him justice. The movie however, was a little disjointed and weak. I think such an epic ordeal deserves a more epic movie and I say this as someone who really like Werner Herzog, especially how he put together Grizzly Man.
DH and I went to see a double feature last night (followed by an obscenely big caramel and chocolate-covered Granny Smith apple on a stick (from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Whistler) - which was delicious!), Still Alice, which was both poignant and heartbreaking; I cried all through it. Julianne Moore gave an exceptional performance (as always ). I can't recommend it highly enough. In snatching the trailer for you to see, I found myself in tears, yet again. Don't mis this!
For a little comedic relief after watching Still Alice, we decided to view The Second Best Marigold Hotel, (the sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which we own and like a lot). It was lighter than the first movie, and funnier, and while it had its moments of memorable insight, it was mainly highly entertaining. Didn't hurt that it had Richard Gere in it this time - he's one of my personal favorites. With Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, and a host of other iconic actors, it's a sure bet even before you see it, and we knew that and so went anyway. We weren't disappointed!

If you haven't, check out Herzog's Little Dieter Needs to Fly (1997). The reenactments remind me of The Act of Killing (2012) (another documentary - Herzog is one of the producers. A must see, imho).
