Dirty Dancing, Grease, La Bomba, Little Mermaid, Big, Dumb and Dumber, My Best Friend's Wedding...I have seen all of these movies at least 15 times and can watch them again and again.

The Color Purple is probably my comfort movie of choice... I know every line, every scene, every word to every song. I grew up watching that movie so it's like hanging out with an old friend

All-time favorite movie, now and forever.

If you are talking about the 1982 version, I was just watching that last night, I own it. It is by far my favorite adaptation of P & P.

I own both of those, too. I enjoy many of the others people have listed.

I will add the 1994 version of Little Women. I watch it a few times a year, sometimes nothing else will do.
A summary of life's ups and downs, it is rich in tone, emotion, and characterization, and Alcott's words are there, ringing true for the viewer.

For me its definitely "Lord of the Rings" (the whole trilogy). It is a nice escape from reality but mostly because it makes me sleepy, lol. In a good way! After a long week watching this movie can almost guarantee a stress free evening. Another one is "Sense and Sensibility" and "Pride and Prejudice" (the BBC version).
That's funny, because I would have gone for the same ones w/ Pride and Prejudice being first on the list. Also Dune and Children of Dune (SciFi version).

I turn on the original Star Wars movies when I just want to veg out or use something for background noise. Not sure exactly what they do for me, but they are my favorites.

Again, I will say When Harry Met Sally because it is always funny, no matter how many times I see it.

I wouldn't strike most people - or even especially myself - as a romantic comedy type person and I don't normally watch movies over and over. I guess my definition of a comfort movie would be something I can watch multiple times
Bridget Jones Diary
The Wedding Date
also
The Replacements - love it - probably my number one for multiple comfort watches
The Hunt for Red October for whatever reason
28 Days
Serenity (and the Firefly episodes)

My thoughts, exactly! I think it's a "girl thing", however!

Also, Pleasantville. . . . just love that movie. . . .
