Default What Classic Horror Movie Is Your All-Time Favorite?

Mine is the original, Tobe Hooper film, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

I also love "Jaws".

The Wolfman (Lon Chaney Jr) with the original Frankenstein as a close second. As for modern films, the list is waay too long to choose from, but, I will think it over.

If you're calling JAWS a horror movie, I'd have to go with JAWS, because it's one of my favorite movies. But I don't really consider it a horror movie.

In the horror genre, I have to go with PSYCHO, ALIEN, and THE SHINING.

I love the first 3/4 of HALLOWEEN, but I find the last 20 minutes or so a big disappointment. Great build-up with very disappointing payoff.

When I was young, my parents would not allow me to watch horror movies!

When I was a teenager I managed to sneak in a viewing of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". I did actually watch the whole thing, but I believe it did permanent emotional damage. I had never been so freaked out by seeing something.

Original version of The Fog and the original version of Halloween. The Thing remake was also very good. John Carpenter is one of my favorites.

Also like:

The Exorcist
The Sentinal
The Changeling
Night of the Living Dead
The Night Stalker
The Shining
Jaws
Psycho
