Other posters have mentioned this movie in many threads; I have not seen it but I'll have to check it out.

I know there is no crying in baseball but A league of their own brings a tear to my eyes everytime i watch this film its one of my favorites. Madonna's "This used to be my playground" in its full version a touching ending to a great movie. Great heartfelt performances from tom hanks , geena davis and madonna.Based on a true story of womens professional baseball during wwII.

Actually I think that one might have been "close" for me. There's something about children's movies, even when you're an adult, that I think can sometimes get at something basic and deep.
In some respects I think the most important writers of the twentieth century were writers of children's books or films. It's a more impressionable age and what you see can be a great influence. I kind-of respect/understand parents who are a bit strict on what they expose their kids to due to that.
