The Yearling
Other Side of the Mountain - true story of skier Jill Kinmont and my friend's mom was killed in a ski accident that year
Philadelphia (had forgotten that til one of you mentioned it)
Terms of Endearment - that scene when Sally Field demands meds for her daughter
healthpub mentioned the scene in Catch Me If You Can. If a movie has a scene with a dying dad or someone grieving their dad it usually gets to me
Am sure there are many more that got me boo-hooing but they aren't coming to mind right now. Could go for a good cry right about now, too!

I need to answer this in two parts. . . when I was a kid, "people" movies left me cold, but I would cry my eyes out for "Lassie come Home"
(Fortunatly) I got over that phase. . . last movie I can remember that affected me that way as an adult was "Out of Africa". . .

I forgot about the Yearling...I also cry during Lord Of The Rings when all seems last as the Two Tower's army attacks Helm's Deep and the Elves come to help; knowing they too, will probably die. I am sorry to hear about your Mom's friend. I also cry during the movie: "Get Real".

"Love Story" - I saw more red-eyed drippy nosed audiences exiting that film than I would have at an allergy convention in the center of Ragweed County.
"The Champ" - A veritable blubberfest for many people.
Love Story just doesn't hold up, but then it never held up to examination when it was released.
The Champ is just too camp for me. YMMV.

You got a great sense of humor though...LOL...

That was a very sad movie and it seems History is not as important a subject as it was with earlier generations. Tom Hanks has been in some tear jerkers...
