Yikes.

I know all the younger celtic punk bands mention Van Dieman's Land, but I first learned of it when the Edge sang a song about it.

Van Diemen's Land also pop's up in alot of old Irish folk songs, Novels and Poems.

There's also a slightly cheesy horror movie, called "The Dying Breed". Which is about a group of hikers, who come across the cannibal descendants of Alexander Pearce.
