The champagne set of sleuthing My favorite was the thin man goes home Wherever they go murder has a way of showing up nick trying to show off his talents for his parents without his customary liquid inspirations as nick is on the wagon the scene with the folding lawn chair is hilarious as well as the pool hall rumble for all whodunit fans do you know the difference between outlaws and inlaws ? outlaws are wanted
That one was funnier...than some of the later movies...which slowly got less entertaining.
I watch them everytime TCM has them on. I never get tired of them. I think the PTB were dead on when they cast William Powell and Myrna Loy for the parts. They played off each other perfectly.
Everytime I watch I catch some innuendo or jibe that I initially missed........they were a charasmatic couple who did "play" perfectly off of each other.....very entertaining.
I remember wanting to be just like them when I grew up and got married (fat chance) My Grandma had such a crush on WIlliam Powel that the earth stood still whenever the movies were shown. Myrna Loy was gorgeous.
THey made drinking classy and he was sooo cool (for his day)
He was a very handsome and classy man for his day Funny how drinking and smoking were portrayed as cool back then. Now I know why I smoke...LOL....
Those movies are a fantastic series. They never could be made today because of the positive attitude towards alcohol. Great wit, great reparte, clothes that make everyone today look like bums.
I agree....about the booze and smoking; that however was part of Nick and Nora Charles' personna. The wit was too fast for many modern movie-goers..
Nora Charles: All right! Go ahead! Go on! See if I care! But I thinks it's a dirty trick to bring me all the way to New York just to make a widow of me. Nick Charles: You wouldn't be a widow long. Nora Charles: You bet I wouldn't! Nick Charles: Not with all your money...
Great stuff! They played over the Holiday weekend.
I like Mr. Moto too.
