Unbreakable - this is definitely M. Knight Shamalans best film. i like this movie way better than The Sixth Sense. in fact, i think Sixth Sense is way over-rated.

The Big Hit - a dark action-comedy with Mark Whalberg and Lou Diamond Phillips. this movie would be completely stupid - if it took itself seriously.

Okay, but they aren't my favorites. I like watching these 2 movies, but they aren't my favorites that I can watch all the time...

and second of all, youve missed the point. the idea is to talk about movies that get generally bad or luke-warm reviews from both critics and the public, but in which you find something special and worth watching. the point is not to list your favorite movies.

if you think you liked Forrest Gump A LOT more than everyone else - you didnt. it won the Oscar for Best Picture. Norma Rae was nominated for Best Picture. Cool Hand Luke has 100% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. it's a classic. everybody likes it. Grey Gardens has 100% positive feedback on Rotten Tomatoes...

do you get the point that i'm making here?

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford--AWESOME cinematography and a poetic script but largely hated. I think most people assumed it would be A)a shoot-em-up western and B)about Jesse James, rather than about Robert Ford

I have also enjoyed National Treasure, Lara Croft, and other light action films that I think are often panned for not being action-enough nor drama nor comedy-enough. And I like costume dramas which most people never like.

But mostly my tastes run in the opposite direction-- I dislike movies that the general population loves. The Godfather trilogy. Star Wars. Silence of the Lamb. Lord of the Rings trilogy. Caddyshack. Shrek. The Matrix trilogy. To name a few.

GATTACA -- maybe I read too much into it, but I think it's a touching piece of art
Brazil -- can't get anyone to give it any respect
