Default The Ramen Girl (2008)

An American woman is stranded in Tokyo after breaking up with her boyfriend. Searching for direction in life, she trains to be a ramen noodle chef under a tyrannical Japanese master. A perfect film - I was charmed

Anything from John Sayles. Love his movies. Some of my favorites are Passion Fish, Lone Star, Sunshine State, and Honeydripper.

I loved "Before Sunrise" w/Ethan Hawke & Julie Delpy, I just put it in my Netflix queue. Much better than the follow-up "Before Sunset". I highly recommend it.

I love Sayles.
I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves, perhaps because the viewer actually has to *think* when watching a Sayles movie.
Sunshine State is my favorite movie about Florida.

That's one reason I like them so much. You can watch them over and over again and "get" things you missed on previous viewings. And yes, they are usually very busy and have lots of subplots, so you have to pay attention!
