Do you consider Vince Vaughn a serious, talented actor as well as a great comedic actor?
The first movie I ever saw him in was the Psycho remake, and I thought he was incredible in that. I've since seen him in other serious roles; Return to Paradise, Clay Pigeons (sorta serious), The Cell...
I also think he's naturally hysterically funny in other roles.
My question is, it seems like he's been always schlumped into the same comedic role over and over, and I'm just wondering if other people consider him a very talented, overall, dramatic as well as comedic, actor.

Can't help I'm afraid. I've only seen a few of his movies and his presence tends to eclipse any opinion I might have on his acting abilities. (Same thing happens to me with Matt Damon ALTHOUGH I have been able to get it together long enough to decide that he is an incredibly talented young man.)
He's cute, I enjoy watching him, I probably haven't seen enough of his work to give a rounded opinion of his skill.

I agree he was great in Psycho, and I liked him in The Break-Up, but I find his comedy to be a bit repetitive and predictable. He's a good actor and has his own niche in Hollywood, though. I forgot about Clay Pigeons, that was a good one too!

I thought he was very good in "Into the Wild". It wasn't a big part, but I thought he did a believable job.

The only thing I liked him in was The Cell. There's just something about him I find so annoying I can't enjoy anything he's in.

I think he could be a serious actor, he's getting himself typecast as comedic, I did like him in Mr. & Mrs Smith with his quick wit. I think he needs a chance at some serious roles or he will become a character actor.

"little" obstacle? I'd say tis a rather "large" obstacle really.
I find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that I like them both even though I don't know either of them. AND I'm annoyed with myself that I seem incapable in both cases to look past the superficial to adequately assess their acting ability. Well I'm not completely incapable of it but still it irritates me about myself.

Oh! Yes! Thanks for the reminder! I did really like his work in Into The Wild.
Sea I might have to go look up his work history on IMDB because it's becoming apparent that I'm having trouble looking past his looks.
