Default Barry Lyndon (by Stanley Kubrick)

I've just watched Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick. I must confess it's extremely beautiful movie all the way thru. Every shot is perfect and could be used as an amazing desktop picture. Music is wonderful too. All these England and Ireland landscape views are awesome. It's probably the most fascinating movie I've seen so far.

I wonder has enybody seen this movie? What do you think of it? I'm also curious what do you think of that Lord Bullingdon (Lady Lyndon's son) as he
Spoiler
decided to shoot after Barry actually had saved his life shooting in the floor on purpose?

I don't know why but I didn't like Lord Bullingdon cause I think he acted dishonourable in that scene imo. Besides, I didn't like the actor. Maybe Kubrick depicted the novel story inaccurately so I don't know the details why Lord Bullingdon was that mad at Barry. Yep Barry was a gambler and opportunist so that's bad but it turned out I kind of liked him for some vague reason. Has anybody read the novel "The Luck of Barry Lyndon" to tell the difference between William Makepeace Thackeray's depiction of Barry Lyndon and Lord Bullingdon and Kubrick's one?
I also liked how that actress played Lady Lyndon. She said only one phrase during all movie that lasts 3 hours. And of course I liked that boy who played Barry's son. He was very cute.

It's my favourite Stanley Kubrick movie. As can be seen above, the cinematography is beautiful. It's been quite a few years since i last watched it so i can't comment too much on the details of the story. The thing i most remember (besides the Sarabande duel scenes) is when Barry meets the woman who will be Lady Lyndon (Marissa Berenson, so beautiful as well). Candlelit scene, incredible to look at.

I was thinking that I needed to see this movie again, and now you have convinced me.
I do remember the beauty of the film, but I have not seen it since that first time in the movie theater.

Wow, it's been a while!

Another thing that still bothers me is why English army didn't shoot at or run towards enemies during that fight with Frenchmen. They just walked slowly when Frenchmen were killing them. It's pretty weird battle tactics imo. Does anybody here know why English army fought that way?

I need to see this movie again too. It has to be some of the most beautiful cinematography ever. Kubrick wanted the gambling scene that is lit by thousands of candles to be authentic so he got a lens from NASA so that he could shoot in the natural light.
